Halloween Activities For Kids

Halloween is a fun holiday for everyone. There are Halloween fairs which the entire family can go to, and trick-or-treating which is always an exciting affair for the kids. Parents have the happy task of helping their kids decide what to be this Halloween, while kids look forward to the chance of filling their baskets with candies and other tasty treats. But what happens before or after the kids stomp into the house with their baskets of candy? Here are a few Halloween activities for kids which they can do before and after going trick-or-treating.

Halloween Fun With Food

Baking Halloween goodies can be done before the kids go trick-or-treating. Mom and the kids – and even Dad! – can whip up scary but tasty Halloween snacks which can be served at the Halloween party. From Cookie Monster’s Sugar Cookies to a Spurting Spider, the kids are sure to shriek with delight once they see the finished product. They may even hurry home just to sample these tasty morsels. There are many Halloween recipes available in cookbooks or on the Internet, and the kids can help point out which food they want to make and serve during the party.

Party Activities

The Halloween party is another exciting activity for the night. Mom and Dad can help facilitate different games and party activities, such as a Halloween movie marathon (they can serve the baked goodies made earlier), a crafts session, and Halloween party games.

Halloween Movie Time

Before renting the movies for the Halloween movie marathon, parents should make sure that the movies they choose are age-appropriate. Some top rated Halloween movies for kids are: The Worst Witch and Under Wraps. The Worst Witch is about a young witch who is constantly getting herself in trouble. Under Wraps tells the funny story of three kids who set a 3,000-year-old mummy free and now have to return him to his final resting place before the clock strikes 12 on Halloween, otherwise the mummy will turn into dust.

Halloween Themed Craft Ideas

Halloween crafts can be made from things lying around the house. Spooky Halloween bookmarks, for instance, are made from wooden Popsicle sticks, glue, and colored foam. A tissue paper pumpkin is made from colored tissue paper and glue! Halloween party cups can also unleash the kids’ inner artist, and the cups are cute to look at, too.

Kids Party Games

Halloween party games are another activity which can be done after trick-or-treating. Kids can go on a pumpkin hunt by finding all the pumpkin pieces hidden in the room, or attempt to pin the witch’s wart while blindfolded. Kids can even go on a candy hunt inside the house and make their own Halloween bags for the activity. Another interesting – and fun – activity is making edible jewelry from licorice strings and cereal and candy that have holes in the middle.

These are just some of the many Halloween activities for kids. Before Halloween arrives, the entire family can sit down and plan the things they want to do. They can even start preparing in advance, so that when the big day comes everything will go smoothly.
