Costume ideas, guides, how-tos and special offers to help you save money on costumes
Parenting.com released this list of 75 cute homemade toddler costumes. I’m always impressed with the quality of some homemade costumes, and the ones in this list are no exception.
A lot of parents think they don’t have the time to make toddler costumes, so maybe this list will help come up with ideas that won’t take months to make and hundreds of dollars to complete.
The first costume belongs to Sarah’s daughter, Piper, of which she has this to say:
“My daughter Piper will turn two just a few days after Halloween so we’ve been talking a lot about birthdays and her party and what it means to be a year older. Of course the part she’s most excited about is the cake, so we decided to make this costume out of a plastic laundry basket with the bottom cut out, wrapped in fabric and stuffing, with a glittered tp roll on top for a candle. If only they didn’t have to grow up so fast!!”

Ice Cream Cones
These siblings are two adorable desserts.
“Mia and Maycie were ice cream cones. They love ice cream, even though they only get it on special occasions and insisted on wearing their hats most of the day. Overall, a very fun costume to make and for the kids to wear.”

Backhoe
I’m impressed this parent went to the trouble curving the cardboard for the front skid. That’s dedication!
“Living near a major construction site, I was not surprised when my 3-year-old son declared that he wanted to be a backhoe loader for Halloween. I searched the internet, but naturally could not find any such costume. Liking a challenge, I decided to make one. It turned out great. My son was dressed as a construction worker — complete with reflective striped shirt, work boots and hardhat — so that when he put on the backhoe, he became the driver. For ease of trick-or-treating in the dark and up and down porches, we removed the backhoe and he could be the construction worker. He loved the costume and still plays with it!”
