Costume ideas, guides, how-tos and special offers to help you save money on costumes
Some of us like to decorate our houses and yards every holiday to get in the mood. Our family is beginning to get like that. If you had asked me a few years ago if I was going to set up anything in my yard for Halloween, I would have called you nuts. This year I’m trying to figure out how many props and characters I can put in the front yard.
In honor of those of us that like to go all out with Halloween decorations, here are a few tutorials you can use to get the creative juices flowing for your own yard.
Graveyard Fence

A fake graveyard just isn’t a fake graveyard without a spooky black fence around it. This tutorial on Instructables shows you how to make your own with some cheap garden trellis and black paint.
Giant Halloween Spiderweb

This decoration will work great on a front porch or in a yard with two trees. The project itself is very cheap as the only materials are a spool of yarn or twine and a pair of scissors.
The real information in this how-to is the technique of beginning your support strands and then weaving the spiral strand throughout. You’ll want to make sure you have all your supporting strands hung before starting. The tutorial starts off with only vertical and horizontal strands, but then ends up with about seven at the end. Once you start weaving the spiral, it’s too difficult to go back and add more supporting strands.
Instructables has a great section devoted specifically to Halloween. It’s a great place to find Halloween decorating ideas and Halloween costumes ideas.
